A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Gerry moved to London and Lisbon in the mid-eighties where he formed a partnership and specialised in 5-star hotels and leisure resorts including the Sheraton's Algarve and Lisbon, the Caesar Park Penha Longa in Sintra and various others on the Cote d'Azur, Spain and in Greece.
Gerry returned to Ireland in 1996 and joined Douglas Wallace with particular responsibility for conceptual design, feasibility studies and quality of design of all projects issuing from the office. Over that time Gerry has overseen numerous award-winning projects including the Morrison Hotel in Dublin, Kirwans Lane, Galway; and Edward Square, Galway.
Gerry has recently directed the Wellpark mixed-use development. Galway's newest and most innovative residential, retail and leisure scheme totals 33,000 m sq and includes 10,000 m sq of basement car parking. Wellpark commenced construction in 2003 was completed in December 2005. The scheme includes the EYE Cinema winner of Best Commercial Building of the Year at the RIAI Awards 2006. Also contained within the scheme is the 5-star g Hotel which has received significant international attention as a result of the creative collaboration with milliner Philip Treacy.
Gerry was lead architect on the Scotch Hall mixed-use development in Drogheda. Completed in 2005, Scotch Hall is a landmark 200-million Euro mixed-use development on the Banks of the Boyne in Drogheda, 25 miles north of Dublin Airport. This revolutionary project has invigorated the retail experience of Drogheda town and houses flagship retailers who have until now been absent from Drogheda's retail landscape.
Gerry’s work on the project won the support of Drogheda’s planners for its ambition, style and sheer verve. Scotch Hall won Best Commercial Building of the Year award at the inaugural Louth County Council Design and Conservation Awards 2006.
