G Hotel, Galway

Overview

This 103 bedroom hotel is the flagship property of Niche Hotels where Douglas Wallace collaborated with renowned milliner Philip Treacy, to create a five-star hotel interior unlike anything seen before in Ireland.. The g experience immediately evokes the old-fashioned Hollywood glamour but with a distinctly contemporary twist.

The guestrooms are havens of intimacy and sensuality. Entered from darkly seductive corridors with catwalk lighting, the rooms’ clever use of mirrors encourages the play of light on luxurious linen and silks in oyster and gold.

This complements the hotel’s striking contemporary architecture where the foyer itself makes the most of the waterside location, with extensive use of glass in the design offering panoramic views across Lough Atalia. The glass allows the play of light on the Lough to be reflected in Tom Dixon’s mirror balls, giving observers from outside the hotel a tantalising glimpse of the glamour within.

The attention to detail is evident everywhere – from the use of colour and exquisite materials, to the choice of the artwork. Walking into the g is described as a movie star experience – like walking into a film set. It is eclectic and seeks to surprise.
