We have recently completed a major remodelling and refurbishment of Bavarian Garages, Northern Irelands premier BMW showroom, for the Isaac Agnew Group in Belfast.
The challenge presented by the brief was to expand the retail area from an 8 to a 16 car showroom on a site that was already operating at maximum capacity. The solution involved removing 2 elements of the operation from the existing building to create room for the retail expansion. The valet operation was accommodated in a purpose built extension and new staff canteen facilities were provided in an adjacent building.
The client had high aspirations with regard to the quality of the design and fit-out. Working in conjunction with BMW UK were able to develop the current ‘Slice’ concept of orthogonal lines and a monochrome palette to provide an cool, minimal contemporary retail design.
We were able to open up the façade with a bespoke frameless glazing system and rework the elevational treatment to inject some excitement into what was a simply clad box. The high point of the interior is a ‘café concept’ customer waiting area using bespoke joinery elements clad in black granite, white stone and glass.
The resultant effect is to create a retail experience that enhances the image of both the BMW and Isaac Agnew brand.
