"There has been a positive shift in customer perception, enhanced footfall into the branches, improved brand awareness and increased savings balances"
Paul Saxton, Bradford and Bingley
Bradford and Bingley is one of the UK's leading retail banks specialising in the broking of financial and mortgage products. We completed a new concept branch design for Bradford and Bingley plc in the United Kingdom. The new design, with four trial pilot sites averaging 125 square metres per site, was launched in October 2004.
Our design brief was to develop a new retail concept for the bank, moving away from what had become a very dated environment in the idiom of an office experience. The design team considered a wide range of elements including the environment, identity and graphic elements to produce a definitive and agreed generic concept design. Our challenge was to create a new Bradford and Bingley experience that was much more retail focused, attracting a new younger client base without alienating the existing clientele.
We developed a new colour palette, building on the existing brand, making it more contemporary and fresh. This, combined with natural materials and photographic super-graphics, successfully highlights the individual activity zones whilst also creating an up-to-date and stylish retail experience.
Bradford and Bingley's new concept design has already been rolled out in Stockport, Rochdale, Guilford and St Albans.
