We worked on both the architecture and guestroom interiors of this project. Situated adjacent a roundabout on the outer ring road of the city of Galway and in proximity to the airport, the Planning Authority saw this location as a ‘ gateway’ and demanded high quality design – particularly for the high density required by the client.
In the flightpath and constrained in height by this, the design is inspired by images of flight with its lifting roof at the prow and its sleek metal cladding. The canopy is seen as a fifth elevation and is dramatically up-lit at night The design allows for a second phase function room to be bolted on at a future date.
