"Douglas Wallace have created a hotel which is comparable to the best in New York, London or Paris"
Hugh O'Regan, Managing Director, Thomas Read Group

The brief was to create an international hotel at the cutting edge of design. a unique design style was required as a strategy to differentiate the hotel from others in Dublin. The design involved the conversion of an 18th-century Georgian town house overlooking the River Liffey. The original façade was retained and incorporated within the purpose built, ultramodern hotel.

The Morrison is now a landmark on the rejuvenated quay. Elements associated with the theme 'East meets West' are used to create a different experience and atmosphere in the lobby, bar areas, restaurant and nightclub. The quasi-minimalist design manages to combine a sense of Eastern spiritualism, the starkness of a contemporary art gallery and an Irish love of warmth and comfort.

Materials used in the hotel are both simple and natural with a strong mix of Irish and Oriental elements. A balance has been created between a serenity of style and comfort, and an excitement of atmosphere. The use of stone and oak has allowed this contemporary design to retain a sense of comfort, fluidity and tactility.

The Morrison appeals to customers seeking an alternative to the traditional norm. International travellers and Dubliners alike patronize this unique hotel because of the young urban lifestyle it expresses.

Since it first opened, the Morrison has been recognised as a contemporary designer hotel that sits amongst the very best in the world. The new 48-bedroom extension, designed by Douglas Wallace, provides additional bedrooms, conference facilities, spa and well-being centre; further reinforcing the Morrison's position as one of the leading designer hotels in the world.
