"We've got a space to live our brand, a remarkable reflection of our corporate culture and personality"
Mike Welsford, CEO, Ogilvy and Mather Group
This project entailed the redesign and refurbishment of two listed Georgian buildings. The offices of Ogilvy are located on Ely Place in Dublin's city centre. The brief for this project was to unify the two contrasting buildings retaining their integrity while at the same time creating a contemporary environment with a design that would reflect the company's modern image.
The design team adopted a policy of minimal intervention to the listed structures. It was decided to adopt a circular theme to reflect the idea of 360 degree branding. Red circular shapes and images feature throughout the buildings, incorporating the company's logo in a subtle, yet effective, way. A vast reception desk is the feature in the main reception area. Underneath, a red strip light has been fitted to create a floating effect.
The colour palette was crucial to the overall success of the project. In order to create a modern look without drowning out the ornate period detail, a generally neutral decor with the occasional burst of colour was decided upon. The result is quite classical, yet contemporary. Lighting was an equally crucial consideration given the high ceilings internally. It was imperative that the light fittings would blend harmoniously with the plasterwork and period detail, but would also retain a contemporary image.
During the entire process, the design team made regular presentations to Ogilvy and the final shape of the scheme evolved through this consultative process.
