The Masterplan relates to an area of approximately 200 acres located to the south of Grange Castle in South Dublin County. This area of the county has been identified as a premier location for enterprise and employment generation.
This Masterplan provides an exciting opportunity to develop the vision for this major new employment generator for the county. A number of large-scale commercial developments have already been implemented immediately to the north of the Masterplan area following the adoption of the Grange Castle Masterplan, including the Wyeth Biopharmaceutical campus and the Takeda pharmaceutical plant.
The 2004-2010 South Dublin County Council development plan has zoned the area for 'Enterprise Employment and Related Uses' and has designated it as an area for which a Masterplan must be prepared. The development plan states that control of new development shall be carried out in accordance with the terms of this Masterplan. As such, the objective of this Masterplan is to guide the development of these lands in a coherent, transparent and rational manner.
The vision for the area is to carefully control development to attract the right balance of enterprise/financial and clean industry employers that will increase the value and profile of the area. Rather than isolate the lands as an enterprise/business area removed from the surrounding residential areas., this special district will have ready access to existing and new mixed-use urban areas, with a full range of services and facilities. The area will also be close to new urban dwellings that will provide choice in how people want to live, work and spend their leisure time.
